Accountable To: Vice President Energy Markets
Summary
The Energy Markets team is responsible for converting sales contracts into cash. They do this by registering customers and load reduction directly or through approved 3rd Parties. We routinely participate with Utilities, ISO/RTO as well as other Aggregators in a multitude of Demand Response (DR) programs. Currently our customer base may be eligible to participate in over 280 DR programs. We have 4 Energy Market Managers – East, Central, CAISO, and West. Each Energy Market Manager supervises at least one analyst while working with a data and reporting team. DR Management System platform and Sales Force are just two of the software packages available. Extensive training and job qualification certification is available.
Compensation: Full-time salary. $100,000 -$120,000 per year.
Responsibilities
Lead the registration effort.
Extract and analyze energy data that supports customer success.
Regular check-ins with market partners to analyze performance and further business opportunities.
Act as the primary contact for all 3rd Parties.
Collaborate with Account Managers
Identify and research new market participation opportunities.
Develop and manage operational strategy for Demand Response and Wholesale Market related programs in Western energy markets.
Develop business cases to make new DR programs available for our customers.
Execute operational demand response strategies that further company goals.
Lead the application process to work directly with ISO/RTOs and Utilities, including enrollments, settlements, and capacity auction load procurement.
Review data quality and recommend process changes.
Analyze load profile data to create a load reduction amount for nomination.
Recommend nomination and registration load reduction amounts.
Supervise analysts and ad hoc teams as directed.
Prepare management and performance reports as required.
Manage workload and resource schedule to meet deadlines across market.
Interface with Sales and other departments as appropriate.
Identify opportunities for best practice adoption.
Where applicable, develop and document new processes that will ensure maximum customer load utilization and revenue in various markets.
Support cross-functional company initiatives and goals.
Required Education & Experience
5+ years energy industry experience, preferably in wholesale electricity market participation
DR experience and strong network within the energy industry
Demonstrated development and implementation of DR related solutions with C&I customers
Excellent written and verbal communication (internally and externally)
Strong listening skills
Advanced presentation development and delivery skills
Strong sense of urgency & follow-through regarding addressing customer related issues
High adaptability and understanding of change within the evolution of a startup
Understanding of at least one major Western energy market (CAISO preferred), including programs, regulation, and policies
· Problem solving, strong analytical skills and ability to convey complex analysis to a broader audience including senior leadership.
Ability to problem solve and strategize with cross functional team members
Must possess exceptional organizational skills
Must be results oriented, customer focused, and have great interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication (internally and externally
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. Majors in Economics, Finance, Engineering is preferred.
Experience working in any of the North American deregulated power markets (PJM, NE-ISO,
NYISO, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, and CAISO)
· Experience with demand response programs, incentive programs, and portfolio optimization.
Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Salesforce experience.
